My voice broke, the memory so painful I could barely speak.

"I was crying, screaming your name. The call finally connected, but all I could hear was the noise of a bar and the laughter of your so-called friends."

"I begged you to believe me, begged you to save me. But you… you were with Ava. Your laughter was just as loud and cruel as their taunts. You didn't believe me. You hung up before I could even finish."

I took a deep breath, tears welling in my eyes.
