Sebastian and I returned to his sprawling, fortified villa on South Hill. Moving from sworn enemies to husband and wife was… awkward. I was about to suggest we draft some kind of agreement—a contract for a marriage of convenience to keep our lives and operations separate.
But before I could speak, Sebastian pulled me into his arms and kissed me. It wasn't gentle; it was possessive and fierce.
He pulled back, his voice a low rasp. "Don't think for a second I wanted to marry you, Sophia Quinn. This was a necessity." He paused, his tone softening almost imperceptibly. "But… don't get any ideas about this being temporary. I have no intention of ever having a second wedding. So you'd better not either."
I stood there, stunned, not even noticing the dark blush creeping up his neck.
