He Doesn’t Deserve My Forgiveness

Chapter 3

No wonder Diana could be so f**ked up—she dug up her own mother's grave to frame me.

Turns out the death was a hoax.

I texted Marcus: "Diana's mother isn't dead. The truth is in the email I sent you."

Whether he looked at it or not was none of my business.

I booked a flight for three days later. Sebastian booked it personally.

When Marcus came home, he saw me packing.

Half my clothes went in the trash, a small portion shipped to Riverside.

"Why are you packing clothes?" Marcus looked puzzled.

I gave him a perfunctory answer. "Moving."

He was quiet for a moment, not catching on, and said to himself, "Quinn Corporation is in Riverside. We'll have to move there after the wedding anyway. Good thinking to pack early."

Then he gave me a stern look.

"Apologize to Diana's mother as soon as possible. Don't make this difficult for me. How about at the wedding?"

After speaking, he tossed his phone aside to look for his ID. Today was the day he and Diana were getting their marriage certificate.

He didn't come home until evening. I opened my phone to find Diana's text.

The picture showed Marcus and her in matching outfits, sharing a bed.

I closed my eyes, my heart unable to avoid another stab of pain.

I forced down that emotion and turned off my phone.

Late at night, my phone vibrated every hour. Each buzz was Diana sending me videos of her and Marcus as provocation.

Until the next morning when Sebastian texted me.

"Miss Quinn, the flowers have bloomed. You may return slowly."

The picture showed two red marriage certificates.

And a pot of brilliant red peonies.

I hadn't expected him to still be caring for the flower I'd casually given him years ago.

Inexplicably, a strange emotion rose in my heart.

I replied with one word: "Okay."

I put down my phone to pack my work files, not knowing when Marcus had returned.

He was packing his daily things. "I'm moving in with Diana for a few days. She's too busy preparing for the wedding alone. Remember to show up on time the day after tomorrow. Don't be late."

After speaking, he explained at length that he was just going to help normally and told me not to cause trouble again.

"Mm, I won't go." I looked down and said.

After last night, my last bit of feeling for him had completely dissipated.

Marcus looked at my calm demeanor, and an inexplicable panic swept through him. He suddenly hesitated.

But thinking of Diana's clingy behavior, he loosened his grip on his phone.

Sophia loved him so much—what could go wrong?

Thinking this, he relaxed and stopped arguing with me, disappearing from my sight.

I watched his retreating figure and made a phone call.

That evening, a helicopter landed in the plaza.

A man approached. "Miss Quinn, your helicopter is here. It will safely transport you to Riverside in half an hour."

I nodded and handed him a document envelope.

"Deliver this envelope to the wedding venue tomorrow. It's my wedding gift to the bride and groom."
