Reborn: My Brother Stole My Life

Chapter 5

By the time we got to the dining room, Dylan had already received his punishment.

His face was pale, and he kept his head down, not daring to cause any more trouble for now.

I caught a glimpse of Isabelle under the table, repeatedly jabbing Dylan's hand with a pin.

You useless man. Now I'm the one taking the heat because of you!

She cursed him in her mind, the pressure of the pin increasing with her anger.

In my last life, not long after we were married, she started abusing me and forbade me from telling anyone.

I couldn't escape, and I suffered immensely.

That's why I'd rather be with Seraphina than with her.

Sorry, Dylan. You chose your own wife this time. You can't blame me.

When the matriarch arrived, we all stood to greet her.

She leaned on her cane, and just as she was about to tell us to sit, her eyes landed on Dylan.

He hadn't changed his clothes and was still wearing that wide-collared T-shirt.

Noticing her gaze, he quickly forced a smile, looking embarrassed.

"Mother, it was all Isabelle's doing. She's just being playful."

His words sent the matriarch into a rage. She swung her cane and struck him hard across the back.

"Shameless!"

"What you do in the privacy of your own room is your business! But you will not speak of it in public, and you certainly will not display it for all to see! It's disgraceful!"

In my last life, a servant was fired just for wearing a pair of shorts.

So, I was always very careful after that.

It was only because I was so cautious that I managed to survive in the Warren family.

And that's why Dylan thought my life was so good—because I had married the "good" wife.

But his whole way of thinking was flawed. Why should a good life depend on someone else?

"Mother, I'm sorry. I didn't know."

The blow from the cane made Dylan break out in a cold sweat.

Isabelle quickly jumped in to help.

"Mother, it's my fault. I forgot to remind him."

She said that, but inside, she was gloating.

Serves you right. I love watching you get hit.

Tsk, tsk. What a psycho.

Since he was a new son-in-law, the matriarch didn't press the issue further. She sat down and told everyone to eat.

Seraphina didn't say much throughout the meal, but she did put some food on my plate.

I could feel Dylan's furious gaze on me, as if he wanted to tear me to shreds.

That just made me smile wider.

"Thanks, honey."

The matriarch smiled at me, pleased.

"Sean, after breakfast, why don't you go to the company with Seraphina? As a Warren son-in-law, you should learn about the business."

I knew she was going to say that.

Because in our last life, she had said the same thing to Dylan at the dinner table.

But Dylan had replied, "I don't want to learn. I can just rely on Sera for the rest of my life."

He threw away such a golden opportunity himself.

That's why when he was kicked out of the family, he was left with nothing.

"Of course, Mother."

I replied.

Seraphina took me to the company.

In the car, I kept trying to hear her thoughts.

But there was nothing.

I guess a woman like her isn't bothered by anything. She has no worries.

When we arrived at the company, Seraphina led me to her office.

"Wait for me here."

With that one sentence, she left.

Through the glass door, I saw her hurry into a conference room.

Curious, I followed her.

I saw her in the conference room, negotiating with a British man. They were discussing the sale of a product formula he had developed.

Good thing I did my research before coming. The Warrens are rich. This formula is only worth a few hundred dollars. I'm going to fleece them for all they're worth this time.
